SYNOPSIS OF NEW TIMES
It’s set in the fall of 1967. While her husband is in Vietnam, Diane Marshall is hired as Resident Hall Manager.
She is the first Black person to have a management position at the ultra-elite Clara Neal College for Women. She
is greeted with joy by Sage, a longtime black maid at the school, with prejudice by Molly, a senior, curiosity by
Raine, Molly’s roommate and with misunderstanding by the woman who hired her: Hortense Amsten.
